NATURES
When we want to talk about nature, do we have to go to Antarctica or the Amazon rainforest to have a well-founded perspective? Alongside the essential reports about a world that is disappearing or on the verge of disappearing, isn't it legitimate to be interested in the world that is adapting?
For my part, I believe that daily observation, over the seasons, years, and decades, reveals the reality of nature across the vast majority of the planet: a world where humankind and the land mutually influence each other. For this book, I have chosen to focus on describing the place where I live, a town in the south of France between the sea and the mountains, Pierrevert. All these places are within easy reach of my daily walks. Nothing spectacular or exceptional, just a place to live shared between fallow land, pine forests, and agricultural and vineyard areas. Simple images, places of unadorned beauty, diverse vegetation changing with the seasons, the passage of time and climate change felt throughout these 25 years of photography—that is my offering.
As for the moral of the story, I will refrain from imposing it on you; the choice is yours.
